Manuring machines

Which machines are in use?

Slurry spreading system:

It is important that adequate machinery is selected to give accurate slurry application. Authorties recommend selecting the right handling and spreading system to ensure that the intended amounts of nutrients from slurry have been applied to the crop. The following are the four main types of slurry distribution systems.

Slurry distribution system:

Broadcast spreader (splash plate or nozzles):
Photo of broadcast spreader you can see from page "Applying manure". The slurry is forsed under pressuer through a nozzle, often onto an inclined plate to increase the sideway spread. This spreader isn’t good, because there happens more evaporation and leachingh. You can’t use this system to fertilize grass.

Band spreader:
The spreader boom has a number of hoses connected to it, distrubuting the slurry clos to ground in strips or bands. It is fed with slurry from a single pipe, thus relying on the pressure at earth of the hose outlets to provide even distribution. Advanced system use rotary distributors to lead the slurry evenly to each outlet.

Trailing shoe spreader:
This has a configuration similar to the band spreader with a shoe added to each hose allowing the slurry to be desposited under the crop canopy onto the soil. It is also possible to spread in growing crops without contaminating the crops.

Injector:
Slurry is injected under the soil surface. There are various typs of injectors but each fits into one of two categories. One of them is open slot shallow injection for up to 50mm depth. The other is deep injection for depths greater than 150mm.

Pipe spreaders:

This is a hose system without a tank, it isn’t weight so much. That system has produced six years ago. Special for farmers who have clay and peat soil. These farmers have problems in spring with the weather and manure, because clay soil is compressed very easy. When you use pipe spreader, be careful with hose or pipes, that you don’t break them. They will break easily. This system need sometimes new hose, because the tractor pull the injector and the hose.

Pipe spreaders make possible to manure earlier in spring because you can drive on the field without damaging the structure of the soil. That way you can also keep your roads and ditch in good condition.
